Well I was cursing myself at 6.10am this morning when i had to get up....and almost didn't bother. Such a stupid idea to run a race in February. And Andy, Ed, Paul and Lisa got a few stern words for keeping me up past 9pm! Eye of the Tiger....more like shut eye of the duvet.

So I wrapped up warm, got in the car, heat on full blast, plenty of coffee....and tried not to think too much about running 13 miles. Took me 10minutes to get out of my car on arriving at Watford...far to warm.

And after about an hour milling about I finally plucked up the courage to take my coat off and make some attempt at warming up - though I did think about running in my new Northbrook Hoody (perhaps the other pennie with the i and the e will be faster?).

I spent quite a lot of time wondering how on earth my body would manage to run 13 miles after being rudely awakened in the middle of the night and then put in an ice box. but I guess I had to give it a go - though there was talk pinning my chip onto someone else and going home pretending I'd done it.

At 4 miles I cursed my friend for reminding me about the hills.

After 5 miles I got a stich and tummy ache - And I cursed Mrs Milbournes profiteraroles very profusely. .

After 10miles and a blizzard I cursed that Pete for even thinking of running Toremolinos half marathon....ggrrrr. (My tri friend Pete is in Spain and upon hearing I was running a half m today, quicly went out and found one to run 30min down the Spanish coast).

But somehow I finished in 1.49.57 which is very respectable for me - Only ever broke 1.50 once before at least 3 years ago. So not quite a PB though if I'd thought I was that close definitely would have run faster!

But i would much rather have been in Torremolinos.
