Saturday 22nd March - 20 miler

Postby alix on Mon Mar 17, 2008 1:17 pm

Hello,

have mentioned this to a few folks - some local fetchies have organised a 20 miler run for this saturday, run as two 10 mile loops...

Info below, and also the link to the fetch thread about it if you're interested :D

Righty ho.

I am thinking meeting on Saturday at around 9:15 to allow for the necessary faffage before starting at 9:30.

Parking at the Greenway (north) car park, as indicated by the starting point of the public map in the "routes" section. This car park is free, and should have plenty of spaces at that time. Alternative parking is at the leisure centre in town (10 mins walk), but this requires a fee.

The route from here is out of the car park, then turning left where you will get to the Evesham Road.
Follow this until a left turn (Racecourse Road, I think), leads you past the racecourse (!) and on to Luddington.
After this, you are in the countryside and after a steady climb, you eventually get to a T-junction.
Turn left here and you are back on the Evesham Road - this is a main road, so BE CAREFUL!
Follow this (carefully) until the first left turn - for Welford.
Over a small bridge, you will see a pub on the left.
On my way through, I will leave a few bottles of water in a bag by one of the lights.
The distance here is around 4.5 miles (14.5 second time round)
From here, carry on through Welford.
The "hill" is now in front of you. It is not that scary, and coming down is sharper than going up.
Do not go straight on.
Turn left after this descent, which will eventually take you to the car park at the Greenway (south).
Turn left here and follow the Greenway back to the cars.
This is around 10 miles, half way for the 2-lappers.

Afterwards, I am thinking one of the coffee shops in Stratty for tea and cake.
As well as Fetchies, there will be a few from my club - the more the merrier.

If you're not a fetchie, you can still come along :D
