Not everyone can attend the AGM this evening (including me), and as the club name change has such a large impact, I suggest putting this decision to a ballot. We did this for the latest club vest design and surely this is as equal or an even more significant change.

Failing that, use arm wrestling to decide the outcome.

shame there were only 18 people who turned up who were registered members - and another newbie and her fellow.

Huge thanks to everyone on the committee last year though, and for those who are busy working behind the scenes as well - Con with his website stuff and everyone else for their work on the 10k and with handicaps etc as well....

Here's to another good year...
remember... you are NOT a salmon.

Re The AGM

As has been the case for the last three / four years now, the attendance at last nights AGM was, to put it mildly, pathetic.
18 members from a possible of 130 (ish)
This is possibly the most important night in the clubs year, one where decisions are made which will affect the running and success (or failure) of the club.
Are there so many poeople who just dont care ??

Your committee do a great job, isn't about time we supported them in recognition of their efforts. Thhe club isn't just about a run on Wednesday or Sunday, they are working behind the scenes, and without them there wouldn't be a Nortbrook AC

So, what can be done to get the attendance up ? Well I have a suggestion to make. The previous night we had least 40/50 runners at club night. Next year hold the AGM on a WEDNESDAY night. Easy isn't it.

Does anyone have any other ideas ?? and for the record I am NOT on the commitee !!

Re my last post, I am suggesting that the AGM takes place on a Weds
IN PLACE of the usual Weds night run.

Although the attendance at the AGM wasn't great, there were a lot of good, positive suggestions about how the club might develop. On this basis, I'm thinking that maybe the AGM shouldn't be the only forum during the year for club members to make their views known. After all, the AGM has to be a fairly formal affair - accounts, committee posts and so on - so the opportunity to float new ideas, exchange views is quite limited. Perhaps it might be helpful to have a more informal session, maybe run in conjunction with a social event, to encourage club members to put their views and ideas forward. Obviously the AGM is important but I don't think it should be the only way to involve the membership. To some extent, this forum has already adopted this approach. Its only been active a week or so and look how many club members have joined and expressed their views!

AGM

Postby sarahmac on Mon Jan 28, 2008 2:50 pm

I agree with the disappointing turnout at the AGM - I unfortunately was one of those that could not make it. However, I agree with the idea about possibly holding it on a wednesday as there always seem to be a good crowd at the club on these nights. For those that won't give up their wednesday run, perhaps they could run at 7pm and the meeting start at 8.15 perhaps.
Certainly something to consider for the future.
Oh, and I agree with the sentiments of the others - 'fab' committee - keep up the hardwork, without you we are nothing!! :D

I think both Howards and Sarahs suggestions sound like a good idea! :P
Sorry I couldn't make it to the AGM - and feel truly guilty now!

And also add my support to the committees! doin a grand job. :)

Just don't forget there are often lots of people that will help out - but don't necessarily want to be on the committee.
